This jacket is made from soft, rich velvet and edged with brocade and frayed ‘lada’, an imported coarse silk. It is made by a tailor in Danba, an age-old Tibetan valley community on the banks of the Dardo River in the Garze Autonomous Tibetan Prefecture of western Sichuan, China.
